♡ Japanese Culture: Valentine's Day in Japan! ❣ 日本の文化:バレンタイン·デー!♡

Hello pretty witches♥ how are you? (* >ω<) Today I feel inspired by love ~ so I want to talk about Valentine's Day in Japan. How they celebrate this day? Let's start with history..

Morozoff Ltd., a confectionery and cake company placed in Kobe, is well known because it introduced Valentine's Day in Japan. After that fact, the other companies promoted with it the giving of heart-shaped chocolates.

A particular thing is that in japanese traditions only the women give chocolates to men they love, but not just to them! In fact, in Japan the equivalent of the western Valentine's Day is celebrated on Christmas Eve ~
So in this day they give different types of chocolate for different people, just because they think it's not nice to feel left out, isn't it cute? (人´∀`)

Giri-Chocolate ( 義理チョコ ) → it means "obligatory chocolate" and it refers to chocolate you have to give to people near you, like male friends, co-workers etc , Cho-Giri-Chocolate, "ultra obligatory chocolate",  instead is for unpopolar people you don't want to give chocolates to.

Honmei-Chocolate ( 本命チョコ ) → it means "favorite chocolate" and you give it to the one you want to express your love to. It's usually home made chocolate or expensive one because he/she has to undestand that he/she is special. ❤

Tomo-Chocolate ( 友チョコ ) → it just means "friend chocolates" and refers to chocolates you give to your female friends.

But what happen after a woman expresses her love to that man? How does that man reply to her? The Japanese National Confectionery Industry Association launched a campaign to make March 14 the "reply day", called White Day ホワイトデー♡, white because an industry wanted men to return marshmallows to women (Marshmallow Day). Now are used as gifts jewelry, accessories, clothing etc. The important thing is that the gift has to be at least two or three times more valuable than the woman's gift, otherwise it means that he doesn't reply to her love.

What to watch with your love or with your friends
